Fun
and friendship are the corner stones of the Beaver program. Through
an adventurous program of outdoor activities, creative play, music,
and cooperative games, Beavers enjoy time with their friends (and
meet new ones), learn how to get along within a group, and develop
the confidence to be themselves.
Beavers officially began in Canada, 1973 but were
not officially recognised in Britain until 1982. Beavers were created
to deal with the demand from the younger brothers and sisters of
Cubs to become part of the Scouting Movement.
The Beaver Section is based around the 'Friends of
the Forest' book with the leaders taking their names from characters
in the book.
The Beavers have a Law, Promise and Motto, like all
sections of the Baden-Powell Scouts Association of Ireland, these
are:
The Law
A Beaver is always busy and bright, and helps other people by doing
a good turn every day.
The Promise
